Substance Abuse Treatment Centers in Michigan
Cocaine, heroin, and marijuana continue plague the state of Michigan. The amount of abuse and availability of heroin varies, but it remains a major threat. Cocaine is available throughout Michigan with highest incident rates confined to densely populated areas. Heroin is widely available throughout the metropolitan Detroit area and as time goes on the drug is beginning to infiltrate the less populated neighborhoods. Marijuana use is widespread. In addition to hospital programs, Michigan has a good number of both short and long-term rehab treatment options. Drug treatment that targets specific populations is widely available. There are many options for men, adolescents, pregnant and postpartum women, and some services are available for senior citizens and gay / lesbian addicts. Addiction treatment in Michigan is available state-wide with the majority of addiction treatment programs concentrated in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint and Lansing. Throughout the state there are a few programs offering either sliding scale payment options or payment assistance of some kind.
