San Jose, CA, is known for many different things. A wonderful place to live and work, many see it as an idyllic location. However, like anywhere else in the country, it is has its own fair share of problems, not in the least that of substance abuse. To address this, the County of Santa Clara Valley has formed its Department of Alcohol and Drug Services (DADS), which is there to provide a system of intervention, prevention, and treatment for residents for the San Jose area and other parts of the county.

The Santa Clara Valley Department of Alcohol and Drug Services

DADS offers help for a variety of population groups, including adults and the youth. These include so-called "drug courts", which exist both for youths and adults. Through drug courts, people are offered the opportunity to seek treatment for their substance abuse or addiction problem. If they complete the treatment, their criminal conviction will be dismissed. Finally, DADS also offers Suboxone treatment for those who have developed opiate addictions.
